JISBAR

Jisbar (born in 1989) is one of the most prominent figures of his generation in the world of pop-street art. Jisbar has exhibited in a lot of galleries around the world and in prestigious museums such as Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, the National Museum of Immigration’s History in Paris, the Museum of Art & History in Santa Cruz California, the Technology and Maritime Museum in Malmo (Sweden), and the Postcard Museum in Bau (France).
Jisbar artworks, a mix of reality and fiction, offer another perspective on the outside world.
In 2019, Jisbar was the first artist to exhibit a painting into the outer space in orbit around Earth.

Jisbar work is best known for his (re)interpretations of classical and historical paintings. His creations are an invitation to discover or rediscover the most famous works of art mixed with the codes of pop culture, bringing a touch of modernity and making them more understandable to people who are usually less sensitive to them. Each artwork is more than just a homage, as it has been enriched with words, sentences, numbers, and drawings that create a whole new story to decrypt and push the audience to focus on every single detail so they can find new elements at every new glance.

Jisbar likes to say that each of his works represents “moments of life”, like a memory that is immortalized in a photo album.

Jisbar “Space Project”

The French neo-pop artist Jisbar sent his Mona Lisa into orbit around the Earth, a pop-art piece that pays homage to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci to celebrate the 500th anniversary of this eternal artist-traveler.

To make this project possible, Jisbar had to recreate his “Punk Mona”, modifying with his usual techniques and using acrylic paints, oil and spray cans to create a painting that can withstand extreme weather conditions once launched into space.
On Wednesday 11 December 2019 at 11.03am, the painting made by Jisbar was sent to an altitude of 33.4km above the Earth’s surface using a bespoke carbon basket equipped with a full HD camera and a helium-free biodegradable balloon that emits ZERO emissions. An extraordinary and 100% non-polluting undertaking. After 3 hours in orbit, the painting landed in the north of England.

Jisbar works

Jisbar‘s most popular works are made with the use of mixed techniques on canvas, through spray paint, oil, markers and acrylics, and are all signed, titled and dated on the back.
